A Hot Time at the Annual Fireman's Festival
Families in Anderson Township know there’s one summer weekend they don’t want to miss- the July weekend of the Fireman’s Festival. During its long history, many Anderson residents have made great memories while playing games of chance and enjoying those delicious ears of roasted corn, slathered in butter.
There’s something for all ages at the festival. Learn more about fire safety from the Anderson Township Fire and Rescue Fire representatives or get introduced to Lt. Big Ben, the towering mascot of the fire department. Children also can sit in the front of a fire engine, and check out what firefighters actually wear when they enter a burning building.
Want to try your hand at a little blackjack or poker? See if Lady Luck will smile on you. Many festival-goers won’t leave the event without eating at least one ear at the firefighters’ famous “buck ‘n’ear” booth, where you can buy a delicious roasted ear of corn to go with your favorite beverage.
All this fun is for a good cause. This year, the Fireman’s Association plans to set these proceeds aside to buy new medical equipment for the Anderson Township Fire and Rescue Department.
