2014 Honorees
Formerly known as the Run to Remember, Celebration to Remember provides the community with an opportunity to personally honor the life of a loved one, and create a legacy in their memory through fund raising for the Anderson Foundation for Parks & Recreation Playground Fund.

New for 2014!

ALL PARTICIPANTS
A designated tribute area will be available at the event for everyone to post pictures or place memorabilia of someone special to them.

HONOREES ONLY
In addition to the tribute area, Honoree family and friends will be encouraged to place items and signs of their honoree along a designated area on the course.

Note: The park district is not responsible for personal items at the event.

The deadline to nominate your loved one as an official event honoree (fee associated with marketing benefits) closed on July 1, 2014. However, this event will foster an atmosphere where people feel welcome to attend in honor of a personal loved one, both officially and unofficially recognized, at the event.

A designated tribute area will be available at the event for everyone to post pictures or place memorabilia of someone special to them.

About the event... it's a walk, a tribute, and a fundraiser
The event celebrates and remembers the lives of nominated individuals (also known as "Honorees"). Celebration to Remember features a walk through Beech Acres Park and a celebration with
live music featuring The Modulators, food, and a special sky lantern conclusion.

This special event began with the family and friends of Nancy Horn – a loving wife and mother – after she lost her battle with brain cancer in 2003. After the first year, the Horn family invited others to nominate a loved one to be honored at this event. Today, the event has grown to celebrate almost three dozen individuals.

The legacy of the Celebration to Remember honorees lives on through the Anderson Foundation for Parks and Recreation Playground Fund. During its ten-year existence, this event has raised more than $77,000. These funds helped complete the playgrounds at Beech Acres Park, Juilfs Park (phases one and two), and Laverty Park. Future proceeds will benefit other park district playgrounds.
