ALL-CHILDREN'S
INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND CONSTRUCTION
IN FULL SWING
The
Anderson Township Park District, with assistance from numerous community groups, businesses
and individuals, will put construction of the "All-Children's"
Playground into full swing this spring. An
exciting facet of the playground’s construction involves the “Art
in the Park” initiative, which will provide youth and
adults the opportunity to create mosaic designs that will enhance the theme
of the playground, benches and other structures within the playground environment.

6910 Salem Avenue
The Park is open from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year, excluding special events.
Size
26.9 acres
Opening Date
The official "opening" of the re-developed park took place in conjunction with the Greater Anderson Days celebration on July 30 - August 1, 2004.
Acquisition
Prior to the 2004 re-development, this property was leased from the Beech Acres
Parenting Center by the ATPD between 1993 and 1997. In 1997, the ATPD purchased
the land containing athletic fields with the intention of re-developing the
park into a multi-use facility when funds became available. A portion of
the capital improvement funds became available as a result of the passage
of the ATPD’s
operating levy in 2000. The remaining dollars were generated through various
fundraisers.
Description
Beech Acres Park is a favorite among township residents of all ages! This multi-use park boasts amenities to suit a variety of recreational interests from the entertaining amphitheater to the reflective Firefighter’s Memorial and from athletic fields to the acrobatic feats in the Wheels Park. While the majority of amenities are complete, budget constraints have forced the ATPD to defer development of certain projects in the master plan such as an all-inclusive play area, a water spray ground, roller hockey area, phase 2 of the skate park, two small shelters, additional garden areas, additional parking areas and lights for the hike/bike trail. The development of these deferred structures is contingent upon the attainment of future funding. Visit the Partnership
Fundraising section of Support Your Parks for more information.
