Beech Acres – and it’s 155 years of caring and stewardship to the Greater Cincinnati community - entered into an exciting partnership with the Anderson Township Park District in 2004. The partnership involved a lease of the Beech Acres’ indoor recreation center, now known as the RecPlex.
Beech Acres was looking for a viable community partnership that would serve their mission of “Strengthening Families for Children” while providing necessary income for their ongoing programs. The ATPD was the natural fit.
The ATPD leased the gym portion of the building since 1990 for youth basketball and volleyball programs primarily. When the opportunity presented itself to lease the entire building, the ATPD jumped at the opportunity. With the lease of this indoor center, the ATPD can offer community event space for rent and different types of programs that we had previously been unable to provide.
Since the ATPD’s budget is entirely committed and over 30% of the budget is already derived from sources outside of taxes, the indoor recreation center must be operated on a 100% cost-recovery basis. Partnerships, sponsorships and creative fundraising combined with collecting fees for programs, events, meeting rentals and other uses will go toward covering the cost of operation.
Talented individuals are invited to contact our recreation staff with any ideas for potential programming or for a place to offer a class or a recreational experience. The Anderson Township Park District is always open to new ideas.
We are grateful that Beech Acres has offered this pivotal opportunity to the Anderson Township Park District. Our facilities and activities are designed to enrich the quality of leisure time as well as provide a balance of social, cultural, recreational, wellness and educational opportunities for all area residents. This lease allows the ATPD to better balance our offerings, reach across the generations in the provision of recreational services, and create new partnerships – critical to our growth and success.
