2008 Honoree: Erin Borchers Bates
Erin Marie Borchers Bates, a graduate of Anderson High School, went on to be a court reporter for the Hamilton County Court House. After being told that the chances were slim of having a child, she conceived and gave birth to a baby girl named, Eden, Erin’s pride and joy.

Erin had a beautiful voice that her family will miss at Sunday masses. Erin’s laughter was contagious and her love for life and her family can never be forgotten. She was a wonderful sister, daughter, mother, and friend. After several visits to the ER, Erin died abruptly of meningitis in 2004 at Mercy Hospital Anderson. She was only 26 years old.

After her death, her family received letters and cards from people who wanted to share with them how Erin touched their lives. She was the kind of person who wanted to help everybody and would go to great lengths to do so. Her untimely death is a reminder of how precious life is and that people don’t remember anything about you when you’re gone, except the way you touched their lives. She is forever missed.
