2007 Honoree: Tonya Brown
Tonya Brown was a very loving and caring individual who always made sure other people’s needs were met before her own. Throughout her life she dealt with different health challenges, but everyday would wake up with the same glowing smile on her face ready to take on a new day. The biggest blessing of her life came when she found out she was pregnant with her daughter. Doctors told Tonya that she was not able to have children, and with her diabetes, serious health concerns might arise with her pregnancy. Tonya’s prayers were answered when she gave birth to her miracle daughter, Arika! Tonya passed away four short years later due to complications with her diabetes. Her family continues to celebrate her life, and they know that she would be thrilled to see what they have helped give back to the community through the annual Run to Remember!
