2011 Honoree: Vicki Moore Gray
Victoria Moore was born on February 18, 1957 in Kinston, North Carolina to David and Carol Moore. In 1959, the family settled back in Anderson Township, Cincinnati, Ohio. In time, Victoria was joined by three brothers, Dave, JR, Steven and Dan Moore. Vicki was devoted to her family her entire life.
Victoria developed a love for animals at a very early age and always had a pet dog. Both as a child and as an adult, she rescued many cats and dogs. Her fondness for animals extended to horses and she began riding at Miljoy Farms at the age of eight. She was determined to have her own horse. Her father told her that the only way she could have a horse was to find a place with free board. The very next day, Victoria found such a place on Eight Mile Road and Gray Cloud became her first horse. Years later, she bought her second horse, Scout. Scout is now 33 years old.
Victoria attended Anderson High School, where she was on the swim and water ballet teams, as well as a member of the Honor Society. She graduated in 1975 and attended Miami University. While at Miami, she also swam on the Miami swim team. She completed her degree and graduated from the University of Cincinnati. She began working at the law firm of Moore, Moore, and Moore with her father and uncle. After working as a paralegal, she found her niche and started law school at Chase Law School. While attending law school, she met her husband, Rob Gray. They both graduated in 1993 and Victoria joined the law firm to practice law with her father. After Rob and Victoria were married in 1994, she helped raise her two step-sons, Matthew and Dan Gray.
Victoria dedicated her life to her family, friends, and clients. She had a great passion for helping people. I have heard so many people say, “Vicki was my best friend”. This is because she always made everyone feel important. Her energy, generosity, and compassion were well-known by all who knew her.
After our father died in 2001 from colon cancer, Victoria developed breast cancer. This did not stop her and she became our mother’s traveling buddy. They had many great trips and adventures all over the world. After a courageous nine year battle, Vicki died of breast cancer on February 23, 2011.
Vicki was my “Angel on Earth” and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We were so blessed to have had her in our lives.
