Adopt A Tree

The Anderson Township Park District offers a program whereby the public can dedicate a tree in honor of or in memory of a particular friend or family member. The majority of these trees are along a park hike/bike trail, where people walk each day. The marker that is placed under the tree is an engraved marker. In most cases it bears a name and date. Sometimes it will bear a saying or phrase that reminds the patron of a person or event.

There are trees honoring special anniversaries as well as lifetime achievements, like the couple that placed a marker to celebrate their life as teachers. The passing of a spouse or good friend is never easy, but being able to remember them daily as you walk in the park, surrounded by people and children at play, brings a sense of comfort to some.

A gift of $250 buys an engraved marker. The stones are shaped by nature, so they will vary in shape and size. The marker will be placed beneath an adopted tree at your requested park. Patrons can take their time choosing just the right tree or just the right location within a park, since it takes approximately 8-10 weeks depending on the planting season.
