2008 Honoree: Rick Alfieri
Rick filled his 52 years with love for others and laughter for many. He had a way of making people feel welcome and at ease, whether he had just met them, or if he had known them for years. He was the consummate host, and wasn’t happy until he knew his guests were happy. He had a smile and a wink that could knock down any barrier. Not only was he a hard worker to provide for his family, he was a loving husband, a friend to his children, and ultimately the light that brightened any room. Rick passed away suddenly, the morning of January 4, 2008.

Born and raised in Anderson Township, Rick managed to get himself through school while supporting his mother after his father’s death. He persevered to achieve his dreams, and he gave strength to every person he encountered. Regardless of the situation, Rick always had a twinkle in his eye and a song in his heart.

A wise man once said, “Death is nature’s expert advice to get plenty out of life.” Rick got everything he possibly could get out of life. His infectious zest and appreciation for life is an inspiration. As his family lives their lives, enjoying each other’s company and truly experiencing each day, they do so in honor of Rick. And they are sure that makes him smile.
