2010 Honoree: Robin A. Nance
The footprints that Robin Nance left have made a permanent impression upon many souls. Her impact continues to grow, as the children who were blessed to know her grow. Her own 5 children, as well as the children of Forest Hills School District, are and will be caring, productive, and forward thinking problem solving adults because Robin touched their lives.
In 1989, the Forest Hills School District was introduced to Robin’s gifts as a first grade teacher, then as a 6th grade teacher. Later, she taught children to stretch themselves and become forward thinkers as a teacher of the gifted. She eventually found the way to impact the greatest numbers of children and adults by working at the district level as a secondary curriculum coordinator. For her own children, she was able to teach them to be independent thinkers, gave them love, and grounded them, which helped prepare them for her untimely passing. Her love of family and friends was apparent in all that she did and was. As for her impact on her friends, she gave them joy, laughter, and a friendship that has kept their group together and made them stronger. She lived in Miami Township with her husband, Tom, and their five children, Jenna, Abby, Erin, Ryan, and Maggie.
Robin Nance was an extraordinary woman who left a lasting impression on the hearts of many in both her professional and personal life. Although she left this world on May 8, 2007, the lives she touched continue to grow and be guided by her strong commitment and passion to us all.
