How to register for a class

1). Search the classes listed below. Click on for more information including the current number of enrollees and the number of spaces available for that class.

2). Select the class by clicking on the shopping cart icon on the left.

3). If you would like to continue to add classes, keep clicking the shopping cart button for each class that you want to enroll in.

4). When complete, click the "Enroll Now" button that appears at the bottom-left part of the screen.

5). You will now advance to the next steps for online enrollment. If you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to log in at this point.

6). If a family member is missing from your household, please call our office at 388-5082 for the member to be added.

    Kid’s Super Self-Defense:
    Children will be encouraged to recognize their "super powers" to get away from unsafe situations such as strangers and bullies. In addition, kids will learn other personal safety skills including awareness and self-defense techniques. Parents are invited to return early and be a part of the class.

    Teen’s Self-Defense:
    This class will teach teens two aspects of personal safety: awareness and protection. Awareness will increase an individual's safety and minimize the risk associated with being a targeted victim. Protection techniques, including physical self-defense, also will be explained and practiced.

    Outdoor Adventure Series: Nature Events

    Stories and S'mores
    Register in advance. Enjoy the evening outdoors with stories around the campfire. Join award-winning storyteller, poet and humorist Stephen Hollen as he tells tall tales and stories sure to bring smiles. Since a campfire experience is not complete without s’mores, make your own at the conclusion of the storytelling. S’mores supplies will be provided. Bring a flashlight! Pets are not permitted. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Art in Nature
    Register in advance. Using recycled items, collectibles from nature and art materials, get inspired to creatively explore the fall season at Johnson Hills Park. The Art in Nature family event allows children to work with teaching artist Amy Tuttle to create a beautiful fall collage. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Space is limited.

Students must bring a binder and a six-string acoustic guitar or an electric guitar with an amplifier. 28-year teaching veteran Jon Armstrong, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, is the instructor.     430100 - Star Glazers Family Pottery

    Register in advance. Make cherished holiday gifts with the family while learning with clay! New projects are offered this session. In the first class, students will create original pieces to be fired in the kiln. The pieces will then be painted using creative techniques at the second class. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.

    This class is in partnership with Ann Flynn, Star Glazers. All supplies provided. The created work will be returned to the Anderson Parks RecPlex office for pick up at a later date.

    430104 - Women's Self Defense

    Register in advance. This two-date workshop can instill self-confidence by learning realistic defensive strategies, including physical and non-physical techniques. Participants will leave with prevention skills such as ways to deter muggers and will gain better proficiency in physical skills including how to defend against and escape an attacker. A self-defense class is a great way to learn these beneficial skills in a non-stressful environment.     Register in advance. Cross Training Circuits are designed to help your performance in all sports and activities: jumping, running, accelerating, pushing, pulling, swinging, power and endurance.     440700 - Santa's Workshop

    Santa Claus is making a special visit to Anderson Parks! Santa’s Workshop returns on Friday evening, December 7, at the Anderson Parks RecPlex (6915 Beechmont Ave.). This special family event gives your child time to enjoy an individual chat with Santa, a craft activity and an outdoor "sleigh" ride in Beech Acres Park. Remember to bring your camera to capture this special occasion. Park staff will lend a hand to take those treasured holiday family photos.

    Santa’s Workshop will take approximately 45 minutes and is intended for children under 10. Adult assistance may be required for some activities. Time slots begin at 5:00 pm and are first-come, first-served.

    - Players must be listed on roster prior to playing. No limit on number of players per team.
    - Practice time is not included, but may be rented from the park district, depending on facility availability. Practice scheduling begins Nov. 2.

    Season: Eight scheduled games (guaranteed to play seven). Games may take place on Saturdays and Sundays.
    Practices Begin: Week of October 15th
    Games Begin: November 3rd

    - Individual registration only.
    - Maximum of 10 players per team.
    - Players are placed on teams by the park district based on school attended.
    - Playing time requirements are enforced.
    - One-hour practice per week.
    - Uniforms are provided.
    - Season does not include a tournament.
    - Game/practice locations include: Anderson Parks RecPlex, Forest Hills School District gyms, Parkside Christian Church, and Mt. Washington Recreation Center.
    - Game/practice dates subject to change due to facility availability.

    Practice Info:
    - Scheduled one hour per week between 4:30-9 p.m.
    - The park district will make schedules as consistent as possible.
    - Coaches will pick practice schedules at the coaches meeting.
    - If your child is placed on a team that practices when you cannot, the park district can provide you with additional options.

    Registration Deadline: September 26

    League Info: Each grade will be a separate league and may be combined, if needed.
    Season: Eight scheduled games (guaranteed to play seven). Games may take place on Fridays and/or Saturdays.
    Practices Begin: Week of October 15th
    Games Begin: November 2nd

    - Individual registration only.
    - Maximum of 10 players per team.
    - Players are placed on teams by the park district based on school attended.
    - Playing time requirements are enforced.
    - One-hour practice per week.
    - Uniforms are provided.
    - Season does not include a tournament.
    - Game/practice locations include: Anderson Parks RecPlex, Forest Hills School District gyms, Parkside Christian Church, and Mt. Washington Recreation Center.
    - Game/practice dates subject to change due to facility availability.

    Practice Info:
    - Scheduled one hour per week between 4:30-9 p.m.
    - The park district will make schedules as consistent as possible.
    - Coaches will pick practice schedules at the coaches meeting.
    - If your child is placed on a team that practices when you cannot, the park district can provide you with additional options.
